FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LIVE EBAY AUCTION TO BENEFIT PENTAGON MEMORIAL FUND
Proceeds Will Help Construction of Lasting Tribute to 9/11 Victims
October 3rd, 2005 Washington, DC Beginning Wednesday, October 5th people will be able to bid on priceless experiences in a live auction on eBay in which all the proceeds from the auction will go towards the construction of the Pentagon Memorial, a memorial tribute to the lives lost in the Pentagon attacks on 9/11. Approximately 14 sports, political and luxury packages will be auctioned off live beginning Wednesday, October 5th and conclude ten days later on Saturday, October 15th.
“This auction gives us the opportunity to raise awareness about the Pentagon Memorial and encourage people to donate,” said James Laychak, President of the Pentagon Memorial Fund, Inc. To date, fundraising has relied on online traffic to its website, www.pentagonmemorial.net, and financial contributions from individuals, companies and foundations. This fall, the PMF will reach the halfway mark towards its goal of raising $18 million for the design and construction of the Pentagon Memorial.
Some of the packages include:
Two suite tickets, pit passes and opportunity to attend the drivers meeting at the 90th Running of the Indy 500
Lunch at Zola’s Restaurant with a former CIA and FBI director, 2 tickets to the International Spy Museum and a 2-night stay at the Hotel Monaco
Two Club-level seats for the Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship game, two pre-game party passes, game apparel and opportunity to be on the field during the pre-game
Two tickets to the U2’s Vertigo 2005 tour in Washington, DC and dinner at the Old Ebbitt Grill
“We are very appreciative of the generosity from the many individuals that have donated items and packages for this effort,” said Laychak. Any interested bidders may visit www.ebay.com/pentagonmemorial.
The Memorial will be on the grounds of the Pentagon at the site of impact and consist of 184-individual cantilevered memorial units, honoring each person who was killed. Detailed design and prototyping activities for the Memorial are currently underway and construction of the Memorial Park is scheduled to break ground in late 2006.
About Pentagon Memorial Fund
