For those who donít know, Google NYC will give grants to NGOís and community organizations to help them build out an online presence, increase web-based technology and products, and create web-based infrastructure among other things. Next deadline is 1 October.

Community Affairs grant guidelines
Our community grant making program invests in the following areas:
Supporting technology education with a particular focus on K-12 science and math education for under-represented communities (STEM initiatives)
Improving capacity for nonprofits/schools/government/small businesses through building technology and web infrastructure (i.e. cloud computing, online search, hardware)
Online safety and privacy
Reducing carbon footprint/green initiatives
Increasing access to high-speed Internet
When evaluating proposals, we consider:
Measurable impact of the resources on achieving the mission.
Collaboration with other organizations and the ability to leverage other resources in the community (particularly financial) to achieve the goal.
Integration of Google in-kind or volunteer resources to maximize the impact.
We will only fund projects that are located in New York City.
We do not award grants on a multi-year basis and will judge applications based on the impact of the project in the year beginning on the date the grant is awarded.
Note that the following types of organization are not eligible for Google community grants:
Organizations whose mission or activities include proselytizing on behalf of any religion.
Organizations that make hiring choices based on race, gender, faith, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability.
Google community grants are intended for non-profit and certain public organizations. We will not fund for-profit companies through this program.
Our community grants program supports organizations and initiatives that focus on three areas that we're passionate about: science and technology education, carbon reduction, and access to the Internet.
When evaluating proposals, we consider:
Impact on the data center community, particularly those that have the greatest challenge engaging in the knowledge-based economy.
Measurable impact of the resources on achieving the mission.
Collaboration with other organizations and the ability to leverage other resources in the community.
Integration of Google in-kind or volunteer resources to maximize the impact.
Google community grants range from $5,000 to $50,000, and are intended for nonprofit and certain public organizations. We will not fund for-profit companies through this program.
If you believe you have a project or program that fits these guidelines, please register and submit your proposal through our online application. Application deadlines fall on midnight Pacific time on the first day of each quarter (January 1, April 1, July 1, October 1).
