|Feal Good Foundation Announcement:
Our mission statement is clear. We want to improve the health and welfare of first responders.
In the pursuit of this goal we have recently interviewed a healthcare provider that shares similar interests to ours. It is called Inner Imaging and it is an affiliate of the Heart Institute at Beth Israel Medical Center. During the past ten years they have screened approximately 28,000 first responders, many of whom were members of the NYPD and FDNY.
Inner Imaging has developed a screening program that examines the vital organs in the body. They screen for heart and lung disease and diseases in the abdomen and pelvis in men and women who are otherwise healthy, looking for diseases before they become symptomatic.
In addition they have created the first Cancer Panel for first responders, a series of specific blood tests targeting certain forms of early stage cancer. While heart disease remains the number one killer of first responders they have also identified patients having 9 different kinds of cancer.
A list of the things they look for listed is below. We have negotiated a reduced fee for this screening. The total cost is $375.
For those of you with GHI, Blue Cross Blue Shield or Medicare Part A the Cancer Panel is covered under your health-plan. For those of you that dont have insurance the cost is $113. It is possible that other health-plans will cover part of the blood work.
If you are interested in your health or concerned about symptoms you may have we encourage you to call Inner Imaging and let them explain their program. They are affiliated with six hospitals and two medical universities and have the means to identify early stage disease and the where-with-all to assist you in the management of disease.
