9//11 families please read

By now our 9/11 families have received a letter from NYC and the National Sept. 11 Memorial & Museum explaining what is proposed regarding the placement of the unidentified remains. 17 Family members requested that all families be polled as to their wishes. The City was adamant and refused to poll the families. These family members filed a lawsuit, which prompted the City and the 9/11 Memorial to send out a letter to all families—but the letter did not seek the families’ input.

The 17 family members contacted me and requested that I start a poll. I accepted .

HAVE been concerned for years that the vast majority of families have had no say regarding any 9/11 issue. Only a chosen dozen or so have –and then the city states they have spoken with the 9/11 families.

******************************************************************************

Dear 9/11 Family members,

I am sending you an important survey asking for your opinion on New York City’s current plan to place the unidentified remains of those who died at Ground Zero inside the 9/11 Museum, 70 feet below ground (see survey at the bottom of this email).

If this plan is implemented, to visit the remains, you will need to enter the 9/11 Museum and pass by the 9/11 souvenir store and snack bar on the 1st floor, along with thousands of tourists.

Many 9/11 Family members have objected to this plan. They believe the remains should be returned to the World Trade Center site, but in a location that is separate and distinct from the 9/11 Museum and above ground. Such a location, akin to the Tomb of the Unknowns and to the manner in which those who died at the Pentagon and on American Airlines Flight 77 are honored at Arlington National Cemetery, would allow you and the general public to pay respects to the remains at all times.

Given these Family members’ objections to the City’s plan,

I and these Family members would like to know your opinion regarding the current plan.

PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION:

DO YOU AGREE WITH THE CITY THAT THE HUMAN REMAINS SHOULD BE PLACED 7O FEET BELOW GROUND IN THE 9/11 MUSEUM?

Please answer YES (agree with the City) or

NO (disagree with the City).
