President of FealGood Foundation meets with new Special Master Sheila Birnbaum

Dear Friends, Supporters and Fellow First Responders:

Today I had the pleasure and honor of meeting with the new Special Master of the Victims Compensation Fund, Sheila Birnbaum. I was granted the opportunity by the Department of Justice and Ms. Birnbaum to have a one-on-one conversation with her to discuss all topics related to the Victims' Compensation Fund. I have walked away from this meeting encouraged by Ms. Birnbaum's heartfelt desire to grant those harmed by their exposure to toxins at the World Trade Center Site their rightful compensation.

Equally important, I am impressed by Ms. Birnbaum's extensive knowledge of the various outstanding legal and medical issues surrounding the Victims' Compensation Fund. The new Special Master, along with the Department of Justice, have agreed to continue working with the 9/11 Community in implementing fair and just regulations. While inclusion of cancer and psychological illness for consideration for compensation has not been rectified to date, I am confident that our arguments will be heard by the Special Master and will not be dismissed without due consideration and research.

I would again like to thank the Department of Justice for its extensive search for a compassionate and qualified Special Master. I would also like to thank Ms. Birnbaum for meeting with me today. By holding such meeting Ms. Birnbaum has made clear that she is willing to listen to the 9/11 Community's needs, and we look forward to future discussions with her.

Lastly, the FealGood Foundation will be immediately putting together another Legal Forum with our attorneys and the Special Master so that the 9/11 Community can again voice their concerns about the VCF program. Please follow our web page at www.fealgoodfoundation.com for more information in the coming days. And please visit the new web page for the VCF at www.justice.gov/vcf/ .

Sincerely
John Feal
The FealGood Foundation
