Staten Island Fundraising Committee Announces Dinner Dance to Benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Staten Island, NY – January 13, 2011 – The Staten Island Fundraising Committee for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital today announced a Mardi Gras Dinner Dance to benefit the hospital. The event will take place on Saturday, March 5th, 2011 at 7:00pm at The Historic Old Bermuda Inn, Rossville.
Committee Chairperson, Gayle Serrapica, is grateful for the support the Staten Island community has provided in the past and looks forward to this event being a great success as well.
“With the help of more than 300 attendees and 100 local businesses, our May 2010 auction raised more than $15,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” says Mrs. Serrapica.
“Children from around the country are treated at St. Jude. We’re looking forward to this event being an enjoyable night of celebration and support for these angels.”
The event will feature dinner and dancing, as well as a 50/50 and raffles. An open bar will be provided. There is a ticket donation of $75 per person. The event will begin at 7:00pm at The Historic Old Bermuda Inn, 2515 Arthur Kill Road, Staten Island, New York.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers. Located in Memphis, Tennessee, its mission is to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic illnesses through research and treatment. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance. No child is ever denied treatment because of the family’s inability to pay. The hospital’s daily operating costs are nearly $1.5 million, which are primarily covered by public contributions.
The Staten Island Fundraising Committee for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital plans several local fundraising events yearly. Founded by Fundraising Coordinator and Committee Chairperson Gayle Serrapica in 2006, the committee operates almost solely on funds raised from Mrs. Serrapica’s Beads for Babes, ensuring 100% of the funds raised go directly to St. Jude.
Mrs. Serrapica explains, “We can make a big difference in the lives of these brave children.”
