Tuesday: 9/11 Responders From Mass. and NY

to Urge U.S. Senate to Pass 9/11 Health Bill

Bill to Help 9/11 Heroes Likely to Fail

Unless Senate Takes Action Now

A coalition of World Trade Center responders from Massachusetts and New York, including members of the Boston Firefighters Local 718, the FealGood Foundation, and other 9/11 organizations, will gather at Boston Firefighters Local 718s Florian Hall on Tuesday to urge the U.S. Senate to pass H.R. 847, the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. The Zadroga Act would provide health care and financial relief to Americans from all 50 states who are suffering because they were exposed to the toxic aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.

A busload of 9/11 responders will be traveling from New York on Tuesday morning to meet up with fellow responders from Massachusetts. More than 400 Massachusetts residents, including 254 9/11 responders and 161 survivors of the attacks, are enrolled in the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Registry because they have serious concerns about their health.

Senate leaders are moving to schedule a vote on the legislation in the lame-duck session of Congress, likely the week after Thanksgiving. With the Democratic losses in the election, the Senate must take action in the final days of the current Congress if the Zadroga Act is to have any realistic shot at becoming law. Peoples lives are at stake!

WHO: 9/11 first responders from Mass. and NY, members of the Boston Firefighters and Building Trades unions, the FealGood Foundation, organizations representing the FDNY & NYPD, and others TBA
