This is a reminder about our seminar “The Future of Homeland Security in the
State of New York” with John R. Gibb, the recently appointed Acting
Commissioner of the newly-formed New York State Division of Homeland
Security and Emergency Services.
Date: Friday, October 15
Location: Room 630 of John Jay College, 899 Tenth Avenue, NYC
Commissioner Gibb oversees the operational activities of five offices:
Counter Terrorism, Cyber Security, Emergency Management, Fire Prevention and
Control, and Interoperability and Emergency Communications.
Prior to being named Acting Commissioner, Mr. Gibb served as Director of the
New York State Emergency Management Office (SEMO) since 2005. Mr. Gibb has
extensive knowledge and experience in homeland security issues, threat
assessment, emergency response, local emergency preparedness, emergency
planning and emergency worker training.
This special seminar is jointly sponsored by the Center on Terrorism and the Christian Regenhard Center for Emergency Response Studies at John Jay College.
