October 7 - The Staten Island Children's Museum and the WHOLE WORLD will - Read for the Record
Children all over the world read the same book on the same day and try to break the record again! This year's book - A Snowy Day by Ezra Keats. A 1963 Caldecott Medal winner, The Snowy Day is the simple tale of a boy waking up to discover that snow has fallen during the night. Listen to the story and join in the workshop.
Tot's Time Plus - 11a.m - 1p.m.($5 plus museum admission) and
Story Time - 4 p.m. (free with museum admission)

Day-Glow Art! Learn the secrets to making glow-in-the-dark paint. It's so easy and you can save a lot of money. Learn what makes paint "glow" and then paint (and wear it when it dries) a reflective, day-glow square to keep you safe.

Tour the ghostly grounds of Snug Harbor Cultural Center with the lantern you created and return to the museum for some hot cider and donuts.
Fri., 5 - 6:30 p.m. Pre-registration required. $ 8 per tour.

Do You Know a Kid of Acheivement?
The Kid of Achievement award is given to a child or teenager, who has excelled in a leadership role, has taken the initiative in tackling a cause, has accomplished great work as a volunteer, or has contributed to the betterment of their community in some way.
If you know a Kid of Achievement, 18 years of age or younger, submit your nomination to the Children's Musuem in writing. Please include the name of the nominee and a resume of his/her accomplishments. Be sure to include your name, address, email address and phone number. Nominations will be accepted through October 15th, 2010. Submissions may be mailed to Kid of Achievement, Staten Island Children's Museum, 1000 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island, NY 10301, ATTN: Jill Gnerre, or emailed to email@example.com.

The Walk-In! Workshop programs on Wednesday & Thursday are free with Museum admission. Wednesday is Clay Day and Thursday is Paint Day. The Workshop opens at 1:30 p.m.
The Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday & closed Monday, except most school holidays. Our hours reflect the New York City Public School Schedule: Noon-5 p.m. when NYC Public Schools are open. 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. when NYC Public Schools are closed (including weekends).
