|Dear Friends, Supports and Fellow First Responders:
I would first like to thank you all for all of your continued support and assistance on HR 847. I know and understand how difficult the last few days have been for each of you, that is why I want to update you on the status of our bill. The Congressional leaders have listened to our collective voice and were moved to action.
Today, I, along with labor leaders and the N.Y. Congressional Delegation, were assured by House leadership that our bill will be sent to the floor within a one week time frame. Although a calendar date has not been set as of this moment, we have been assured that this is merely a technicality as the bill moves its way through the final procedures to full House vote.
Most of you know me well and know that patience is not my strongest virtue. I can guarantee you that our efforts to bring this bill to the floor will not cease until we see it on the Congressional calendar. However, we considered, and still consider, it imprudent and ill advised to ratchet up our pressure on leadership at this critical time. We will continue to work behind the scenes to accomplish our goals. As I stated yesterday, and remain steadfast in today, unfulfilled promises will not be allowed to pass without condemnation by the 9/11 community. We hold faith, however, that House leadership will deliver on this final opportunity to keep their word.
God bless you and God bless America.
