From Sep 24, 2016 to Oct 13, 2016 (included)
|The following has been sent to our state officials.
As you know in the coming year things are going to get much more difficult for local not for profits due to the current budget situation.
More and more organizations will be depending on volunteers to accomplish their missions.
To that end we were wondering if it would be possible to introduce legislation to help address this issue.
Tax incentive for volunteer hours.
Give a tax break for families that can document volunteer hours.
Set up a formula
$100 for 10 hours maximum $500 per family per year.
We could also do the same to help alleviate the current blood shortage.
$250 for three blood donations in a year
The potential number of volunteers generated by this type of program would really offset the loss of funding that not for profits are going to face in the coming years.
We could centralize the tracking of the hours to assure proper accountability.
If we can get this to work at the state level maybe we could make it a federal program.
Please let me know if you would be interested in speaking about these programs with me and Chris Luadando who came up with the blood donation idea.
As always your assistance is greatly appreciated.
