Dear NYC Nonprofit,

United Way of New York City, in partnership with NYC Service, invites your organization to participate in the BoardServeNYC nonprofit board recruitment, training, and matching program.

We enthusiastically welcome participation from across the five boroughs. However, some nonprofits may have, in error, prematurely received an invitation to our upcoming February 17th Board Fair. We apologize for any confusion our earlier email may have caused. If your organization has not yet completed the BoardServeNYC Orientation Session, you are not eligible to attend the February 17th Board Fair.

In order to become eligible to attend board matching events, such as a board fair, all participating nonprofit organizations must:

Apply to the BoardServeNYC program at boardservenyc.org
After being accepted, complete a free orientation session to become familiarized with the BoardServeNYC program and the ‘on-boarding’ process.
For your information, BoardServeNYC is free to any registered 501(C)(3) organization in the five boroughs. The program provides:

Support and guidance to nonprofits on how to effectively engage candidates and utilize new board members
Online and live matching services that connect nonprofits with hundreds of potential board candidates from across NYC who have undergone six hours of training in nonprofit governance and bring experience from diverse professional fields.
If you have not finalized the BoardServeNYC process and have questions on next steps, please feel free to contact us at boardservenyc@uwnyc.org.

We are eager for your participation in the BoardServeNYC program and attendance at future events. (Participating nonprofits that complete the orientation session by mid-March will be eligible to attend our April board fair).

Again, our apologies for any inconvenience.

Kind regards,
The BoardServeNYC Team

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children offers tips on keeping children safe:
  • Make sure you know where each of your children is at all times.
  • Be involved in their activities and give them lots of attention and supervision.
  • Listen to them, especially if they talk about people they don't want to be around.
  • Teach them they can say no to unwelcome actions or touching by others.
  • Be sensitive to changes in their behavior or attitudes.
  • Screen babysitters and caregivers. Check references and sexual offender registries.
More tips and information can be found at www.missingkids.com or by calling 1-800-843-5678
