From Sat Nov 21, 2009 3:00 am to Sat Dec 05, 2009 2:59 am (included)
|As we were driving around doing graffiti cleanups I noticed all of the campaign signs that are still up all over the Island.
Until we can start making the candidates pay for the removal from their campaign funds (see recommendations below) we have come up with a way to get them down and help students as well.
Where to Turn will grant 1 hour of community service for every 5 campaign signs a student turns in.
We will give the students 2 weeks to collect the signs including the long Thanksgiving weekend.
Signs are only to be removed from public property or from fences surrounding abandoned lots or construction boards accessable from the sidewalk.
If a sign is on private property it can only be removed with the consent of the property owner.
Students can drop off the signs at our Community Service Outing on Saturday December 5. (check website for times and location)
We will supply documentation on how many hours granted.
So we get rid of the signs and students get community sevice that many need.
