As we are about to observe the eighth remembrance of the September 11th, 2001 Attacks on the World Trade Center, please accept my sincerest thoughts for you and your loved ones at this sad time.
I am pleased to once again offer you free ferry service from Liberty State Park to New York City’s annual Memorial Service. The ceremony will be held at Zuccotti Park as in the past. In addition, the City has advised that it is working with the Port Authority to provide special access to the newly-constructed upper-level section of the Memorial site.
As you know, Zuccotti Park, at Liberty Street between Broadway and Church Street/Trinity Place, is about a one-mile walk from the ferry terminal. You may want to consider taking the PATH train to the WTC station because doing so would make your walk to Zuccotti Park shorter. Moreover, the PATH option would offer flexibility in returning. The ferry will make only one return trip to New Jersey. For your convenience, I have included information on PATH station locations, schedules and fares.
For the ferry, please see the enclosed instructions: please register with the Office of Recovery and Victim Assistance at (609) 777-1248 by September 4th, and bring the colored pass with you on September 11th for free parking at Liberty State Park.
My continued sympathies and prayers are with you.
JON S. CORZINE
2009 FERRY SERVICE TO GROUND ZERO:
For ID, please bring your letter from New York City or your P or T number.
Please do not bring food and water or other liquids. Light refreshments will be served at the Terminal prior to the ferry departure. Please plan to arrive by 6:00 A.M. in order to enjoy your coffee before going through the security check point where refreshments interfere with the equipment. Please do not carry large bags with you.
The ferry service from Liberty State Park to NYC will be one time only:
The New Jersey State Police will again provide an escort from the ferry to the WTC site.
The returning ferry will depart New York City for Liberty State Park:
Immediately after the Ground Zero program ends at 1:00 P.M.
Directions to Liberty State Park are on the back of this sheet which serves as your “Parking Pass.” Please display this pass in your vehicle window on the morning of September 11, 2009 to gain access to Liberty State Park and the ferry parking area.
You MUST REGISTER for the ferry service. Please call the Governor’s Office of Recovery and Victim Assistance at 609/777-1248 as soon as possible, but not later than September 4, 2009. Be sure to mention any special needs you may have. New York City will not provide any assistance for those who need it unless it is pre-arranged.
If you prefer to take public transportation which will bring you closer to the ceremony site, information is enclosed for your convenience.
