A Celebration of African, African-American, and Caribbean Cultures
Bobby Digi, president of Island Voice, Inc., announced the organization will launch the third annual Black Cultural Arts and Heritage Festival on Staten Island on September 19, 2009 at 11:00 am. This symbolic occasion is a celebration of cultural pride in Staten Island’s diverse community.
The Parade begins at Staten Island Borough Hall and ends in Tappen Park, where the Festival begins. Island Voice will hold a concert exhibiting cultural diversity and empowerment. The festival also includes speeches by distinguished political, business, and community leaders.
The African Heritage Day Parade and Festival seeks to create positive reinforcement for the north shore communities’ youth. “The changing demographics on the north shore of Staten Island presents an opportunity to bridge gaps among community leaders of the diverse groups that call statenIsland home. “We are offering the opportunity to encourage bonding among our young population and networking amongst our older and new immigrant population .
Join the celebration at Staten Island Borough Hall on September 19 at 11:00 am! For more information about the African Heritage Day Parade, please contact Bobby Digi email email@example.com.

We would appreciate your support. As a citizen of Staten Island, we would appreciate your advocacy and support on behalf of the SI African heritage parade and Festival and its mission.
In its third year, the aim of SI African heritage parade and Festival is to increase awareness of and celebrate the varying positive cultural aspects of people of African descent who call Staten Island HOME. A successful SI African heritage parade and Festival will serve as a diverse, vibrant part of Staten Island’s cultural tourism initiative and will go far in providing a platform to cultivate ongoing environment of cultural pride and unity, while serving as a conduit to bring a much needed economic boost to the North Shore which is now viewed as Staten Island’s “cultural corridor”.
In this respect we have revised the name of the parade from prior years to highlight the heritage of descendedants of Africa in the spirit of inclusiveness and commonality as against to the color of one’s skin which varies.
Please contact us to discuss ways in which you can lend assistance to make this year’s Parade even more successful.
