From Tue May 26, 2009 3:00 am to Sun May 31, 2009 2:59 am (included)
|Dear Family Members,
Solid progress is being made on the construction of the National September 11 Memorial at the World Trade Center. Every day we move closer to our goal of opening in 2011.
We are now beginning the extraordinarily important process of collecting information that will guide the physical arrangement of the names on the Memorial of those who were killed in the September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993 attacks. We will be asking the next-of-kin of each victim to participate in this process to ensure that all names are inscribed correctly and to determine the placement of the names around the pools.
Over the next month, all next-of-kin (as defined in the Memorial Names Verification and Arrangement Policy on our website) should receive an official Memorial Name Verification and Arrangement package in the mail. If you are the next-of-kin of a victim and do not receive a package by the end of June, or if you have any questions, please contact us at 1-877-671-1636 or email@example.com.
The package will include a form to verify the spelling of the name for inscription on the Memorial, and opportunities to provide other information that will help to guide the arrangement, such as place of work and other relationships that should be reflected in the Memorial names arrangement (for example, the names of those who worked for the same company will be inscribed together, and family, friends, and colleagues can be listed side by side).
This is the first important step in arranging the names for inscription on the Memorial. We will be in touch with you again with information about the specific location of your loved one’s name once the arrangement is completed.
We encourage you to visit the “In Memory” section of our website. Here you will find information about the Memorial, including how the names will be arranged and the process for determining that arrangement, and the ways that you can participate in the creation of exhibitions dedicated to your loved ones within the Memorial Museum. You should also soon be receiving a mailing from Voices of September 11th (VOICES), our official partner, encouraging you to participate in the 9/11 Living Memorial Project. We are working with VOICES to support their efforts to create the 9/11 Living Memorial, which will enable meaningful exhibitions about your loved ones to be displayed within the Museum. Anything you contribute to VOICES for the 9/11 Living Memorial will be shared with the Museum.
We understand that this will be an emotional and difficult process, and are committed to aiding you. Again, if you have any questions, please contact us at 1-877-671-1636 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum continue to keep you and the memory of your loved one in our thoughts. Thank you in advance for participating in these important processes and for helping to ensure the integrity of the National September 11 Memorial.
With warm regards,
President & CEO
