Graffiti Removal

Although we are taking a break this weekend from graffiti cleanups (as

our kids will be volunteering at the Great Kills Memorial Day Parade)

We will be back at it next week and hope to hit another 20 locations.

If you know of any additional locations that need paint overs please

submit a waiver as we are only permitted to clean locations for which

we have waivers.

Flags Across Staten Island

Scott has completed mural number 34 at the Yukon Bus Depot.

We currently have money for the next two

Island Realty at Victory Blvd and Jewett Ave.

IS 49 at 101 Warren Street

We will be receiving $1,000 from Councilman Ignizio within the next

few weeks for # 37

We are also receiving a grant from the Richmond County Bank Foundation

for our Graffiti Program $1,000 of which will be going towards # 38

Councilman Oddo contacted us with some good news that his office will

be funding another 3 murals and once we receive those funds we can get

those done.

We have a few people who have expressed interest but at this time we

have no other sponsors.

We would really like to have 40 done by Memorial Day and have 50

completed by the 4th of July.

The Daily News will be doing a feature story on the project for their

Memorial Day edition and will include a video presentation of most of

the murals on their website.

Additional sponsors would be greatly appreciated.

Academic All County Ceremony

We currently have 203 candidates identified by the following 13 High

Schools

CSI High School for International Studies

Monsignor Farrell High

School New Dorp High School

Notre Dame Academy

Port Richmond High School

St. John Villa Academy

St. Joseph by the Sea High School

St. Joseph Hill Academy

St. Peters Boys High School

Staten Island Technical High School

Tottenville High School

Xaverian High School

Xavier High School

These senior athletes who maintained academic excellence will be

honored at a ceremony on May 27 at St. Johns University.

Our guest speakers this year will be Linda Manfredi principal at PS 29

and Assemblywoman Janele Hyer-Spencer both of whom were athletic

scholars during their High School careers.

Invitations have been sent to all the identified candidates and their

families.

Hearts and Hands Memorial

We will be video tape a walk through of the Sea View location this

weekend to supply to HUD the information they need to free up the

funds to begin the initial cleanup of the site.

We have also sent a letter to mayor Bloomberg and all of our local

elected officials in the hopes of getting them more involved in this

project.

Last week we met with Congressman McMahon's office to discuss our

plans.

We have over 6,000 family members and friends on board to support this

project once we get underway.

Special thanks to Rich Pierce for his assistance with all the

architectural plans. Without him we would never have gotten anywhere

with HUD.

We are currently working on finding a location to display the United

in Memory 9/11 Victims Memorial Quilt this September.

We are hoping to secure the Intrepid but will be looking for alternate

sites if that is not possible. Any suggestions are welcome.
