Presents 2009 Spring Capacity & Skills Building Training Workshops: Progression During Recession in Collaboration with and to be held at Con Edison.



• Recession got you down, lost your job...What's next?- Thursday, May 14 - 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon

The recession has had an effect on us all either directly or indirectly. In this economy more so than ever the need to foster relationships is key. Would you like to learn how to promote yourself and your organization effectively at meetings, events and social gatherings? You must network to stay in the game. This workshop is designed to hone our networking, thank you, and schmoozing skills. And, oh yeah, bring your business cards! - Register



• Retro-fit for the recession: Staying abreast of new marketing strategies - Thursday, May 14 - 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Everyone is feeling the squeeze. As such your marketing strategies must fit the times. What can you do as an organization to entice corporations and donors to give when there is less to give? This workshop will focus on the art of savvy marketing. - Register



• Creating a strategic plan for your Non-profit/Faith-based organization - Tuesday, May 26 - 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon

Car companies are offering no risk one year leases on vehicles with the option to return if you lose your job. The banks are looking for government bailouts and the MTA needs more money from Albany. Everyone is thinking strategically for ways to survive and progress in spite of the current recession. This workshop will give you new tools to meet these challenges head on. - Register



• Board Development - Tuesday, May 26 - 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Next to funding, the most important need within nonprofit groups is better governance procedures. Too often, we hear about abuses or governance controversies and even lack of governance at nonprofit organizations. To make nonprofit organizations more effective we need to pay more attention to governance issues to head off such problems. This workshop is designed for Board Members and Executive Directors who desire to improve dialogue on nonprofit governance issues. - Register



• Proposal Writing 101 - Thursday, May 28 - 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon

Are you frustrated that every proposal your organization submits is turned down for funding? Are you familiar with the documents funders require non-profit organizations to submit with their proposals? Are you interested in exploring ways to improve your agency’s position to secure funding? This workshop is for you! - Register



• Losing corporate funding: How do I generate alternate resources? - Thursday, May 28 - 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Everyone is talking about, “I need to raise money for my programs!” This workshop will challenge you to think creatively and inexpensively about alternative ways to raising money. - Register
