Eggstravaganza - April 4


Welcome Spring at the Eggstravaganza sponsored by Health Plus. Bounce, craft, hunt for eggs. Watch master beach artist Matt Long make a huge sand sculpture. Visit with the Bunny (bring a camera!). Get your face painted. Free Admission. Saturday - the Museum hours and the Eggstravaganza are from noon until 4 p.m.


Weekend Workshops

Diversity Flowers in all the colors of the rainbow
April 5

Add your handprint petal and become part of our flower. The flowers will be “planted” in a collage garden at the Museum.
Sunday - 1, 2 & 3 p.m.



The Zoo Too!
April 11

As a special treat to our visitors, the zoo will be here with Natalie, a leopard tortoise who is 10 years old and 16 lbs.
Saturday - 2-3 p.m.


TD Family Passport Program – Sri Lanka
April 11

Young Sri Lankan-American dancers share Sri Lanka’s cultural riches and heritage.

Saturday - 1 p.m.



Windsocks – How do you fly?
April 11 & 12

Create a self-portrait and then craft it into a windsock. You’ll be blowin’ in the wind.
Saturday and Sunday - 1, 2 & 3 p.m.



Paint Like...Matisse
April 18 & 19
Learn Henri Matisse’s style; experiment in different mediums, including collage and paint. Create a masterpiece of your own.
Saturday and Sunday - 1, 2 & 3 p.m.



Make a Family Tree
April 25 & 26

Team up with your family to construct a family tree (with a leaf for each family member) that can be passed down from generation to generation.
Saturday and Sunday - 1, 2 & 3 p.m.


Spring Recess


April 13 through April 17

The Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during Spring Recess.



On two Northfield Bank Foundation Cool School Holidays, Monday, April 13th and Friday April 17th, the Museum will be open for FREE.

Nano Days 2009


Wait a nano second! Nano technology explains why very, very small (nanoscale) things behave differently. Explore gravity, surface tension and magnetism. Learn to measure in nanometers. Make your own Buckyball find out what it is and what it is used for. NanoDays events are organized by participants in the Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE Net) with support from the National Science Foundation. Demonstrations and experiments will take place on:

Week 7 – Aug. 10 – 14 ASPCA Camp (8yrs. & up)

Week 8 – Aug. 17 – 21 Arty Camp

Week 9 – Aug. 24 – 28 Cooking Camp

Week 10-Aug. 31 – Sept. 4 Summer Fun Camp

½ day - all week - $150 - 9 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Full day - all week - $275 – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Reservations accepted with payments.

5% discount if registered by April 30th.

10% discount (one time only) when registering more than one child or more than one camp.

Camp will not be held without a minimum number of participants. Campers will be grouped by age whenever possible.

The Staten Island Children's Museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays and closed on Mondays, except for most school holidays. Our hours reflect the NYC public school schedule: noon until 5 p.m. when NYC public schools are open; and 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. when NYC public schools are closed (including weekends). Workshops are free with paid Museum admission (unless noted) for more information visit our website: statenislandkids.
