To All,

We have cancelled tomorrows outing with the student volunteers as it will be too hot as they are calling for 90 to 95 degrees.

We will be out in the morning with some of our offenders cleaning up some locations and I will also be out testing out the new power washer at a few sites.

I have attached a letter that was forwarded to the mayor on our behalf by Councilman McMahon asking him to review current sentencing standards for Juvenile offenders.

I have also attached a link to a letter from Councilman Oddo in today’s Advance explaining the regulations that we are attempting to enforce.

We thank both Councilmen for their continued support.

We received some good news as we received award letters for grants from the following elected officials to help with our community projects including graffiti removal.

State Senator Lanza $12,000
Assemblyman Matthew Titone $ 3,000
Assemblywoman Hyer-Spencer $ 2,500
Assemblyman Cusick $ 2,500

We have already received a $5,000 grant from District Attorney Dan Donovan and $2,500 from the Richmond County Bank Foundation and have been told that a check for $2,500 has been sent from the Northfield Bank Foundation.

All of these funds will go directly back into our programs as we have already spent over $15,000 on our programs already this year. Our yearly program costs usually run about $50,000. This includes the upkeep of the Where to Turn website (www.where-to-turn.org) which is updated daily.

We also sent in the final paperwork on our grant for the Hearts and Hands Memorial and hope to begin work on that $6.5 Million project next month.

For more information on this project go to http://www.where-to-turn.org/phpBB2/index.php?c=21

We will be looking for corporate sponsorship and will have multiple ways for people to get involved.

Also check out our homepage at www.where-to-turn.org for new grant, volunteer and employment opportunities and keep up with our latest editorials on our blog at http://www.where-to-turn.org/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=30

We are looking for some young computer pros to help us with our YouTube clips and Google Ads and we are still looking for help with our Graffiti PSA’s

Finally if you would like to join us for opening day at Richmond County Stadium June 19th (Staten Island Yankees vs the Brooklyn Cyclones) we have a few tickets left. They are $15 each and include the all you can eat plan.

If you are interested in any of the above e-mail us back at dennis.mckeon@where-to-turn.org or call us at 718-966-6531.

Keep those waivers coming

Dennis
