Dear Family Members and Friends of 911....

After watching the terrible floods in Missouri, I contacted Nancy Battersby, Director of Parks and Recreation Department in the City of Fenton. The city of Fenton dedicated a beautiful 911 memorial to the families and victims of 911 in the city park in Missouri. It is a very impressive memorial created from the hearts and minds of the loving people of Missouri. Below you will find a link to my website with photos of the memorial as it stood before the 8 feet of water and mud covered it during the recent floods. Below this link you will find photos sent from Missouri showing the incredible damage from the recent floods.

They are presently still assessing the damage to the memorial and surrounding area. The Park Director writes: "Still waiting to see how much damage and what it will take to fix it. Our tennis courts were a total loss. The restrooms had four to five feet of water in them. There is so much mud on the trails I can't even tell if they are still there or not. Yarnell Road had a 375 foot section washed away"

If you would like to help, please contact Nancy Battersby, Director, Parks & Recreation Dept, City of Fenton,
990 Horan Drive, Fenton, MO 63026, e mail: nbattersby@fentonmo.org or call her at 636-343-0067 ext 1152

And Please forward this to as many as you think may wish to know and might like to help....

Sincerely,
Barbara Lang

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children offers tips on keeping children safe:
  • Make sure you know where each of your children is at all times.
  • Be involved in their activities and give them lots of attention and supervision.
  • Listen to them, especially if they talk about people they don't want to be around.
  • Teach them they can say no to unwelcome actions or touching by others.
  • Be sensitive to changes in their behavior or attitudes.
  • Screen babysitters and caregivers. Check references and sexual offender registries.
