WHERE TO TURN

HIGH SCHOOL

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES


Snow Shoveling for Seniors student adopts one senior who lives within walking distance from their home and shovels each time it snows. 10 hours community service credit and a letter of recognition from the Borough President.

Graffiti Removal Program - student participates in weekly graffiti removals with Where to Turn and local precincts. 5 hours of community service per outing. Students can also receive 1 hour for each location they identify and receive a waiver for permitting us to remove the graffiti.

Gift of Life Program Students can receive community service hours by volunteering at the Blood Donation Center in the Pergament Shopping Mall. They can also receive one hour community service credit for each pint they donate or for each person they can recruit to donate a pint in their name.

Voter Registration Students can receive one hour of community service credit by registering to vote. Any student who turns 18 prior to Election Day can register at our website.

Re-Gifting for a Good Cause Program Students can receive up to 15 hours of community service credit by organizing collection drives at their schools. Students can also receive hour of community service credit for each cell phone, DVD or CD they donate (minimum of 10 items). Students can also receive community service credit by volunteering at our flea market in the spring.

We are also looking for school groups to design and paint murals at various locations on Staten Island. Each group selected will receive a $1,000 stipend to purchase materials. Art teachers or school coordinators can contact us at 718-966-6531.
