From Sat Dec 22, 2007 3:00 am to Tue Dec 25, 2007 2:59 am (included)
|Thanks to an article in the Advance we got rid of the remaining toys. The phone calls started at about 7:00 this morning and kept up the whole day.
We were able to get toys to about 20 families, the pediatric ward at Staten Island University Hospital, Project Hospitality and a Foundation for young children with aids.
We spent the day distributing the toys and the remainder of the afternoon returning calls to people who we could not accommodate.
We will drop off the remaining gifts tomorrow morning.
We also recorded a spot with Peter Haskell of WCBS Radio about the Re-Gifting Program which should air the day after Christmas.
We continue to collect items and as we reported yesterday the Staten Island branches of North Fork Savings Bank will act as drop off points for the program.
We are still looking for additional partners and drop off points.
We will also be on the ABC Saturday Morning Show on December 29 to promote the Re-Gifting and other Where to Turn Programs.
The seniors keep calling for snow shovelers so please if you know of any students please have them give us a call.
Finally there are a few blood drives this week. What better way to show the spirit of the season. Please donate.
