From Thu Dec 13, 2007 3:00 am to Sun Dec 16, 2007 2:59 am (included)
|We currently have 450 student volunteers (200 form just 3 schools) at the ready to shovel for their assigned seniors. We have about another 40 in the process (awaiting confirmation or consent forms).
Our goal is to reach as many seniors as possible (at least 700) this winter. Unfortunately we continue to get more seniors requesting the service every day. 25 new seniors registered today.
We once again ask you to reach out to your schools, churches, and community group for additional volunteers.
As you know we sent 300 toys to the Metairie Academy in Louisiana this past Saturday. On Monday we dropped off another 250 toys at Project Hospitality to be distributed to needy families on Staten Island.
Tomorrow we will pick up the remainder of the toys from the St. Johnís Toy Drive. Many of these toys were donated from students at Notre Dame Academy.
On Saturday we will ship another 300 toys to the Lynn Oaks School in Louisiana.
Along with the Joseph Maffeo Foundation we will distribute the remainder of the toys to children in the pediatric ward at Staten Island University Hospital and to additional needy families on Staten Island.
We continue to receive gifts for the Re-Gifting for a Good Cause Program and will put that into full gear right after Christmas.
We will be meeting with the Staten Island Yankees tomorrow to determine how we can work with them on these programs.
And we are still looking for additional drop off points particularly on the North Shore.
We were hoping that some of our media friends will join in this effort.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
