|MAYOR AGREES TO OUR COMPROMISE PLAN
FAMILIES WILL GET LIMITED ACCESS TO GROUND ZERO
We would like to thank Mayor Bloomberg who graciously met with us this evening and agreed to our compromise plan which will have the names read in Zuccotti Park but allow the family members to proceed down Liberty and down the ramp to a small area at its base where they can place a flower or say a prayer.
We would also like to thank Norman Siegel and Glenn Corbett who once again stood with us through this whole ordeal.
We would like to thank Sally and Al Regenhard, Diane and Kurt Horning, Rosemary Cain, Rosaleen Tallon, Patricia Reilly, Margie Miller, Anthony Gardner, Jim Riches, Bill Doyle, Jim McCaffrey, Bruce Decell, and all of their groups who were not afraid to stand up and fight for what they thought was right. Who did not run and hide when it appeared that we did not have a chance. Who haven’t let personal agendas let them forget what this is really about.
We would like to thank the few newspapers and media outlets who actually presented our side of this issue. A special thanks to the NY Daily News for their thoughtful editorial and constant coverage and to Mike Kelly of the Bergen Record for his constant support.
We would like to say thank you to the few elected officials who stood by us when so many did not.
And finally we would like to thank the family members and friends who e-mailed and wrote letters to show support for what we were doing.
This is for them.
And on September 11th when we walk down the ramp and place a flower on the bedrock of Ground Zero we will not say thank you but we will say “We Will Never Forget”
