State and City lawmakers To Mayor Bloomberg:
Let Families Mourn Loved Ones At Ground Zero
on 9/11 Anniversary
New York State Senate Democratic Leader Malcolm Smith will join Senator Eric Adams (D-Brooklyn) and other city and State elected officials, representatives of 9/11 victims' families and civil rights attorney Norman Siegel during a press conference tomorrow in calling on New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to reconsider his decision to move this year's 9/11 ceremony away from Ground Zero.
Like many others elected officials, Senator Adams' office has received requests from families advocating for the ceremony to be held at the original location. Acknowledging the logistical challenges of holding the ceremonies at Ground Zero, where construction is underway, Senator Adams believes that, families should be able to visit the sacred site, due to the fact that this may be the last year they would be able to do so.
