Mr. Holloway,
I cannot understand why we have not received at least a partial response to our questions. I am especially upset that we do not know what (if any) training is given to people working on the actual site. What qualifies them to recognize human remains? How does what is now taking place differ in any way from a mere "scoop and dump" operation? The discoveries do not seem to be made on site but rather in Brooklyn where they have been dumped after having been "scooped."
Rather than helping us understand the situation surrounding discovery and identification, we have been left with even more questions. Have any remains been identified from those found since September 2005? bIf not, why not? Has any personal property found since September 2005 been returned to families? Was there a suitcase recently found on a ledge of the 130 Liberty Street building? If so, was it returned to a family? If not, what was found on that ledge? And, finally, why isn't there more effort to answer our questions in a timely and respectful way? We deserve better treatment.

Ms. Horningó

Dear Mr. Holloway,
Below is the message I sent to you following our April 27th meeting. You responded that it had been received and that you would have no trouble getting the answers to these questions. To date I have had no further response. In addition, at that same meeting I had asked what the "protocols" were for training people working at the WTC site and its surroundings as they search for new remains. I have not had an answer to that question either. Are they given any training at all? I look forward to a timely response to these questions.

Sincerely,

Diane Horning

Dear Mr. Holloway,

Thank you for taking the time to address the following questions. You indicated at our meeting on Friday, April 27, 2007 that there should be no problem in gathering the answers. I look forward to your response.

1. Regarding the NYC Medical Examiner's facility: how many full-time people are working on the identification?
a. what do they do?
b. what are their credentials?
c. how much time is being devoted to this project (identification, not recovery)?

2. Regarding Bode: how many full-time people are working on the identification?
a. what do they do?
b. what are their credentials?
c. how much money is included in the contract for Bode's services?
d. Is there a time limit to this contract?

3. Regarding Gene Code:
a. has there been a new contract with Gene Code to upload DNA profiles?
b. why was this necessary?
c. how much money has been contracted for this service?
d. how much time and man power can be expected for this amount of money?

Should other questions arise, I will contact you. I am very grateful for your time and effort.

Sincerely,

Diane Horning
