|One would think that if there were to be two major stories in the paper about Ground Zero they would be about one of the following.
Over 1,300 remains recovered in the last year alone.
No movement of the remains buried at Fresh Kills.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars and thousands of personal items allegedly missing from the NYPD Property Department.
Not one DNA match from any of the remains recovered this year.
All of these could easily be a major story any day of the week.
But what were the stories in todayís NY Post.
Two stories about how Christie Ferer allegedly used her positionS as the former mayorís liaison and current Port Authority Commissioner to by pass security at a local airport.
Now we hope that these stories are not true.
And we want to believe that Ms. Ferer would not be a party to such actions.
Our question is; why is a major story?
Why does it always seem that only negative stories about 9/11 get extensive media play.
Anne Coulter gets major press coverage to sell her books by making disparaging remarks about 9/11 widows.
The Jersey Girls get bashed, Sally and Diane get criticized or ignored and all those working to get things done right whether it be about the Memorial, building codes for the new construction, the handling of remains at Ground Zero and Fresh Kills or the misuse of 9/11 loans and grants are depicted as whiners or never satisfied.
Itís about time that someone step up and address the real issues.
Demand some real answers to the issues above.
Too many people have used and continue to use 9/11 for their personal and political benefit.
At the same time victims go unidentified, survivors go without proper health care, remains continue to be buried and ignored and future lives are put in jeopardy as buildings are constructed exempt from NY Building and Fire codes.
But I guess these issues donít sell papers as well as a potential scandal.
