Flag of Honor Canvases will be Distributed to 9/11 Families
To give 9/11 families a lasting, tangible connection to the one’s they lost is the goal of the Flag of Honor Fund. With the image of the American flag containing the names of all of the victims of 9/11 in the stripes, the Flag of Honor canvas is akin to a stretched and framed painting. The single canvas created for each victim has a personalized dedication signed by the artist and is donated to the next of kin. It is a tribute that will last for generations.
On Tuesday April 24th from 4pm – 7pm representatives from the Flag of Honor Fund who created the canvases, and OSI, the company that sponsored the canvases will be present at the WTC Family Center in Baldwin, LI to distribute canvases to the families of victims of 9/11. Families, friends and the general public are invited to view the canvases, meet the artist and remember those who we lost.
Described as “The most appropriate memorial I have seen”, by John Vigiano who lost his only 2 sons in the WTC, over 300,000 Flag of Honor flags have been distributed throughout the world. A Flag of Honor hangs in the offices of the Governor of NY and NJ, Mayors Bloomberg and Giuliani, many public buildings, government offices and in the Family Room overlooking Ground Zero.
Years from now when we all are gone, a child will point to a name on the Flag of Honor canvas and say “That was my great grandmother”.
