As was reported in today's papers the mayor is attempting to put a halt to payments for people who have become ill as a result of the after effects of 9/11.

It appears that once again there is a fear that the cost for such a program will be hundreds of millions of dollars.

A few months ago Ken Feinberg suggested setting up a fund similar to the Victims Compensation Fund to pay for these health related costs.

If the concern is money, we provided the mayor and the current governor the answer this past July.

There are hundreds of millions of dollars worth of inappropriate or illegal loans and contracts that were given out after 9/11.

Instead of spending money and time fighting legitimate claims currently being filed the Mayor, the Attorney General and the Governor should be recouping the money that was distributed through both local and Federal programs.

Below is a letter that was sent to Eliot Spitzer in July. A copy was also sent to the mayor.

It is hard to understand why the administration is so quick to try to halt legitimate family claims while for five years they have turned a blind eye to the misuse of State and Federal Funds.

Put It Above Ground

Dear Mr. Spitzer,

I am writing on behalf of some of the 9/11 victims who where denied small business recovery grants from the federal government. Many of these people have lost everything as a result of these denials while it has been reported that many blue chip corporations including Dell Inc., Morgan Stanley, the AXA Group and even Donald Trump and Larry Silverstein have allegedly qualified and received these loans. Although this is a Federal Program many of these inappropriate loans were made through New York Banks in New York City. Since it is apparent that the Federal and State Government are not going to do anything (they have been aware of this information for almost a year) I am asking your office to launch an investigation into how these loans were handled. Your office has been such a strong advocate in the fight against white collar crime that I think you are our only hope if we are going to get to the bottom of this. If these charges are legitimate either these companies misled the banks or the banks themselves awarded inappropriate loans. Either way someone needs to be held accountable and the money needs to be returned as there are still legitimate victims that have been denied this aid. Some of these victims have already lost not only their businesses but their homes as well. The real victims of 9/11 need your help in this matter as we have approached both federal and state officials and have gotten nowhere. Your attention in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Dennis McKeon

The latest articles are just a tip of the iceberg. Billions are still unaccounted for with TSA contracts as well as other questionable expenditures by numerous Federal State and local programs.

Please click on the link below to see numerous editorials and letters that have been sent over the past few years to our local newspapers. Not one of these has ever been printed.

As stated we have raised these issues numerous times but our concerns have gone unanswered.

Hopefully something will finally be done and those who abused the process will be held accountable and those now in need of medical assistance will get the help they need.

That would be a nice surprise.
