PRESS RELEASE: The Joseph Maffeo Foundation continues to make our world a better place in honor of Firefighter Joseph Maffeo and all those lost on September 11th, 2001. "Who knows all the good they might have done - all the lives they might have touched." The Joseph Maffeo Foundation is committed to fill the void left in our world by the passing of our friends and family on that infamous day and proudly announces their 4th annually "In The Name Of Love" dinner dance and "Staten Island Angel Award" recipient.

The 4th Annual "In The Name of Love" Dinner Dance to benefit the "Joseph Maffeo Foundation & Children's Program at Staten Island University" will take place Friday, February 16, 2007. The location is Nicotra's Ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 1100 South Avenue, S.I., N.Y. The event will take place from 8:00pm - 12 midnight. The evening will include a four course dinner, open bar, live entertainment featuring Staten Island's own Tommy Ricardo & TR Touch, dancing, raffle prizes, 50/50 "Big Bucks" raffle drawing and most importantly the presentation of the 4th annual "Staten Island Angel Award". This year we are extremely excited to announce there are two recipients of the award, Senator Andrew Lanza and Councilman Michael McMahon. We are pleased to honor both for their dedication and commitment to the children of Staten Island through the Joseph Maffeo Children's Program at Staten Island University Hospital. As a result of their commitment, the first phase of the renovations to the pediatric unit as SIUH will begin in early 2007. The entire three phase project, a complete redesign and renovation of the unit will cost an estimated $500,00 when completed. Past recipients of the S.I. Angel Award have been Wendy Pellegrino, founder of Angels Circle, Borough President James P. Molinaro for his work with the Staten Island September 11th Memorial, "Postcards" and Mr. Dennis McKeon, co-founder of the St. Clare's WTC Outreach Program and Executive Director of Where-To-Turn. Proceeds from this event will benefit the "Joseph Maffeo Children's Program at Staten Island University Hospital" as well as the "Joseph Maffeo Hero & Scholarship Awards", presented to elementary and high school students who have displayed such attributes as sincerely, integrity, compassion, courage and selflessness in there everyday lives. Reservations are required and the ticket cost is $125.00 each. As part of our fundraising efforts, journal ads, and our "Big Bucks" 50/50 Raffle tickets are available to the public. The drawing will be held at the event (attendance is NOT required) and the winner could receive up to $15,000. For more information or reservations please call the Joseph Maffeo Foundation at 718-227-0812 or e-mail: maffeofoundation@aol.com.
