|As we reported last week we will not have any finds until Water Street is opened.
They are working overtime as we guess they do not want to miss another deadline.
They are holding to the 12/18 opening date.
They have extended the trench to just north of the bridge.
They are not even looking for remains.
They are basically just opening up the ground.
If they find a section where it looks like there might be remains, they are marking it
We have been told that they will extend the areas marked as far as needed but will do it in phases as not to completely shut down the road.
We have also been told that they will extend the search beyond the perimeter of the fence if need be.
The people doing the work continue to be very diligent. They want to do this correctly.
They have no objections to bringing in JPAC or any other qualified team to assist.
The problem is they are not the ones making the decisions. They can be shut down at any time by the mayor.
The Governor did a photo shoot at the site today.
Too bad we weren’t there as we could have taken a picture of him in front of the black shroud covering 130 Liberty.
It would have made a great statement as to how he has treated the site.
Cover up anything that looks bad, out of site…out of mind
Speaking of the Governor’s office we have been told that they unofficially said that they have no problem with the sifted remains going to Fresh Kills but they will not comment on the record.
I spoke with Senator Clinton’s office and they have made calls to the mayor’s office inquiring into the issues in the CBS report and our updates.
They promised to continue until they get some answers.
In the meantime we will keep calling for an independent investigation until someone listens.
Put It Above Ground
