|We have once again posted the link below from the CBS story about personal items from 9/11.
It has been almost a month since the story and Mrs. Keasler, even though she has a voucher, has still not had the money that has been inventoried returned.
The people who designed the system that cataloged the items recovered from 9/11 (including cash) state that over $900,000 in cash and over 1,000 highly recognizable pieces of jewelry were logged into their system.
This is considerably higher the $220,000 in cash and 300-400 pieces of jewelry reported by the NYPD.
This would be enough to warrant a full scale review but there is something else.
According to Mr. Ostoski (one of the designers of the system) during the design phase identification routines were imbedded in the system to track the property back to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
This in itself would seem to be a useful tool in getting items back to the families of the owners.
Sources have stated that there is an internal NYPD investigation underway but we need to get that confirmed.
We are looking for an outside investigation into the entire process as it appears that this process was mishandled as well.
Anyone with additional information or who wants to help pursue this can contact us at 718-966-6531.
