It is getting much more difficult to convince our children that democracy really exists in America, especially in New York City.

We seem to have leaders that have forgotten that they are civil servants.

Part time civil servants for that matter.

They are elected to do what is right for the people they represent.

What is going on at Ground Zero will be remembered as the biggest disgrace in American history.

The fact that the Mayor of New York City believes that his is the only opinion that counts and that he will force it on the entire population of NYC is a joke.

The only problem is that no one is laughing.

We have asked every Council Member to stand up to the mayor but have only heard from two who are willing to do so.

The reason we have a City Council is so that the Mayor does not have complete control but that only works if they can voice their opinion without fear of retribution.

Obviously that is not the case here.

Obstruction of Justice, Evidence Tampering, Hindering an Investigation used to be crimes in New York City but not at Ground Zero.

Guess it has something to do with it not being city property.

This again brings us back to the loss of Democracy.

Our Mayor now has the power to control what occurs on what is not even NYC property.

Benjamin Franklin once said “It is the first responsibility of every citizen to question authority”

Oh how we could use a man like Benjamin Franklin in City Hall today.

Instead we have become part of the Bloomberg Network.

Where everything is about finances and to hell with Democracy.

Put It Above Ground
