From Fri Nov 03, 2006 2:00 am to Sun Nov 05, 2006 1:59 am (included)
|Once again no remains were uncovered again and it was once again because they only sifted through the remainder of the Fresh Fill.
One of the reasons for the delay was that Mayor Bloomberg decided to tour the site.
He was very concerned whenever he was told what the crew thought should be excavated especially when it came to the service road.
We have been told that the Fresh Fill is completed and they will be looking into the manholes that have been uncovered at the level where the original remains were found.
The meeting that was called by the LMCCC was held at 3:30 this afternoon and before we get to what was discussed we must tell you that Charles Maikish who called the meeting left shortly after it began as he had something more important to do.
We guess that this effort is not a priority as the LMCCC has over 50 other projects to manage in Lower Manhattan.
Approximately 300 manholes were identified that need to be searched around Ground Zero.
The plan is to do these block by block with midnight shifts.
The search and removal of what is found is going to be conducted by employees of the various companies responsible for the locations (Con Ed, Verizon, DEP etc)
This search is not going to be conducted forensic experts.
Whatever is removed is going to be transported to a still undecided location where it will be searched by ME and NYPD staff. We are assuming that this is where the newly hired Forensic Anthropologists will be employed.
The LMCCC is still against having the service road excavated or having anything take place at the Ground Zero site that will interfere with the ongoing construction.
This is why the testing facilities are being moved off site.
It is also why they are just going with five foot deep test drillings into the service road even though articles from the WTC have already been found in what was supposed to be fresh fill.
The LMCCC is also 100% against any searches of the rooftops of any buildings other then the 3 they have identified.
Just so that you know that other parties involved in the effort are calling for these things as well as the complete excavation of St. Nicholas’ Church but the LMCCC is making the final decisions
They will be working tomorrow and we will have an update tomorrow night.
Feel free to ask any questions you might have and we will try to get them answered.
In a related matter, some real questions have been brought up about the inventory of personal remains but to date the media does not seem interested. Questions need to be asked. This involves your loved ones personal items.
