Proper Burial / Proper Recovery Rally
Thurs. Nov. 2, 2006 - 12:30pm

For Immediate Release
Contact: Diane Horning, 908-654-5244

WHO/WHAT:

An alliance of major 9/11 Family Groups, friends, union members, clergy and
the public, will hold a rally to support Proper Burial/Proper Recovery of human
remains at Ground Zero by enlisting the assistance of the Joint POW-MIA
Accounting Command (JPAC) military recovery unit.

WHEN:

Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 12:30 p.m.

WHERE:

At the World Trade Center site on Church Street, adjacent to the PATH
station entrance, across from Fulton Street

This event is open to the general public. All persons are invited and
encouraged to attend. Elected officials will be invited to support the 9/11
Families. WE NEED YOU WITH US!

We must show our absolute solidarity at the site where the remains of the
9/11 dead have lain ignored and unburied for over five years. It is time to
stand up and be counted! There can be no more haphazard discovery of human
body parts and personal effects. We demand a scientific, well-organized
controlled survey of Ground Zero by a reputable entity such as the Joint
POW-MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/ which is the
group that searches for remains of missing soldiers from WW I to the
present. The human remains of the 9/11 dead must be recovered at Ground
Zero, surrounding buildings and the Fresh Kills garbage dump. Join Us !
Bring your family and friends. We need your help! Dress in black/purple for
mourning and, if you lost a loved one on 9/11, please bring his/her photo.

We are not demanding a work stoppage. We are not insulting the valiant
efforts of the brave rescue and recovery workers who searched the pile. Our
criticism is focused on the empty suits that rushed the job before it was
complete.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children offers tips on keeping children safe:
  • Make sure you know where each of your children is at all times.
  • Be involved in their activities and give them lots of attention and supervision.
  • Listen to them, especially if they talk about people they don't want to be around.
  • Teach them they can say no to unwelcome actions or touching by others.
  • Be sensitive to changes in their behavior or attitudes.
  • Screen babysitters and caregivers. Check references and sexual offender registries.
