|"Children may be 25% of our population,
but they are 100% of our future."
With that in mind, the goal and objective of the Joseph Maffeo Foundation is to make our world a better place by instilling in our children the values and beliefs that made Firefighter Joseph Maffeo the unique individual that he was, is, and always will be in our hearts - Sincerity, Integrity, Compassion, Courage and Selflessness. With the help of our community the foundation intends to continue his legacy of goodness and decency by keeping his spirit alive and breathing it into our youth - our future. Their objective is to teach the lessons learned from 9/11 - hatred bears severe consequence and that goodness and decency can supersede future acts of hate, making our world a better place.
With that said the Joseph Maffeo Foundation is proud to announce CASINO NIGHT 2006! - to be held Friday, September 22nd at Nicotra's Ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn. The event is expected to be attended by almost 300 individuals, joining in honor of FF Joseph Maffeo and all those whose lives were tragically cut short on September 11, 2001. The proceeds from this event will benefit the "Joseph Maffeo Children's Program at Staten Island University Hospital".
The Joseph Maffeo Foundation and Staten Island University Hospital have joined forces to help make our world a better place for the children of Staten Island. They have forged a long term, mutually beneficial partnership known as the "Joseph Maffeo Children's Program". Under the guidance of Anthony Ferreri, President & Chief Executive Officer at SIUH, Dr. Philip Roth, Director of Pediatrics, and Vivian Alestra, Pediatric Child Life Specialist, the Joseph Maffeo Children's Program has begun the task of renovating and redesigning the entire pediatric unit at Staten Island University Hospital. The ultimate goal and objective of this project is to provide and create an environment that is conducive to healing - providing families and their loved ones the necessary climate to eliminate discomfort, pain and suffering associated with a child's hospital stay.
We are proud to say that we have entered the design phase of the project and after reviewing submissions by independent designers, have made a selection. We hope to have an artist's conception and drawings to present the evening of CASINO NIGHT 2006!
