Every day you hear another number. Either they are trying to determine the total number of victims or the total amount of money spent since 9/11. Articles reflect the number of people who worked on the recovery as the television and radio stations are counting down the number of days until the anniversary.
When will people begin to realize that this is not about numbers?
This is about how Marie will never see her son get married or have children of his own.
This is about how Meaganís future son or daughter will never get to meet their Uncle Neil.
This is about how Dawn, Debbie, Denise and all the other mothers having to explain to their other children that daddy is never coming home.
This is about how Nicole, Michele and all of the other newlyweds will have to go on without their partners.
This is about the tortured look in Sonnyís eyes when he talks about Monica.
This is about people having to watch those planes crash and those buildings fall time and time again because it sells papers and gets ratings.
This is about how the government failed us since the first bombing of the towers when they swore that strict measures would be implemented to protect us from another attempt.
This is about how people in Tower II were being assured that it was safe to go back to their offices when people knew another plane was still missing and headed towards New York.
This is about firefighters being lost because of faulty communication equipment.
This is about how Senators and Congressman vote against an independent investigation because they do not have the guts to stand up against the White House.
This is about how Sally and Monica have to fight for the families for every bit of information regarding the collapse of the towers.
This is about the government rushing to protect the airlines while taking almost a year to answers questions about the Victimís Compensation Fund.
This is about the LMDC being more concerned about redevelopment then the Memorial.
This is about how politicians who havenít been heard from in almost a year now appearing on every show and in every newspaper because of the upcoming anniversary and elections.
This is about charities still holding almost half of the funds collected almost a year later, while victimís families go without health benefits.
This is about the families having to get help and information from volunteer groups because it is too big of a task for the professionals to handle.
This is about lawyers clamoring to sign up families and not being completely forthcoming with their intentions.
These are just a few of the things that this is really about
