To All,

Guess what? Somebody finally listened and the remaining $10 Million that was needed to complete the world-class state-of-the-art advanced training skills facility at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas has been collected. Now who do we have to thank for this? Not our Mayors, Governors, Senators, Congressmen, not even our President. Not a penny of this money came from the government. We have to thank local radio host Don Imus who campaigned for the Fallen Heroes Fund on his morning program and solicited the money from businesses and guests on his show.

As much as we appreciate what he has done it is a sad commentary on our country when we need to go to such great lengths to support and comfort those who were seriously injured defending our country. The government continues to fail those who it calls upon in their time of need.

We once again ask our Representatives to set aside 5% of any future military spending bills and earmark it for projects such as this to aid our injured soldiers. In the meantime we ask them to at least set up a program where soldiers can call their families from their hospitals and have the calls charged to the Senators or Congressmen of their home state. We as taxpayers already pay our representatives phone bills. I donít think anyone would object to including these calls on that bill. Another suggestion would be to exempt the military personnel from income taxes. Some states have adopted this policy and it is time that the Federal government looks at it as well.

Once again thank you Mr. Imus for doing what our government would not do. At least someone is looking out for those who are looking out for us.

Dennis
