WTC MEMORIAL FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES AGENCY.COM TO CREATE INTERACTIVE CAMPAIGN TO BUILD THE MEMORIAL
Full Service Interactive Agency Donates Services to Drive Awareness Online
The World Trade Center Memorial Foundation today announced that Agency.com (www.agency.com), the full-service interactive agency, will help drive the Foundation’s online marketing strategy. Working in conjunction with TBWA\Chiat\Day, the award-winning advertising agency, Agency.com’s New York office will develop the interactive component of the national outreach campaign. Both agencies are providing services on a volunteer basis.
“The World Trade Center Memorial Foundation is grateful for the tremendous generosity of the Agency.com team,” Foundation President and CEO Gretchen Dykstra said. “As we build the physical Memorial, our website, www.buildthememorial.org, creates a virtual Memorial dedicated to honoring that day. Agency.com will marshal its staff and resources in order to produce a compelling and engaging online campaign which will enhance our website and garner support from around the world. We look forward to working with them to launch the online campaign in the spring.”
“Being a part of this project is both a great honor and a humbling experience” said Yuri Salnikoff, Managing Partner of Agency.com’s New York office. “We believe that the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation is doing a great deed for the city, country and world. We look forward to working with the Foundation and TBWA to drive awareness and visibility for this monumental effort.”
In November, the Foundation announced the creation of the WTC Memorial Communications Advisory Council comprised of advertising and media industry leaders. The Council will secure media resources for the advertising campaign, which will be a comprehensive multi-media campaign to generate broad-based financial support for the Memorial from individuals and corporations across the country. The Foundation and the Advisory Council expect to launch the national campaign in the spring.
“Our creative team shares a common vision with both the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation and the Communications Advisory Council in extending the Memorial beyond physical borders,” said Tom Ajello, Vice President of Creative for Agency.com. “By developing a significant online presence, people from around the world will be able to experience this amazing project in their own personal way.”
Agency.com will create interactive components working from the current website developed by online strategy firm EchoDitto, Inc. Currently, visitors to the website can make donations, share their personal 9/11 story, sign the petition for a commemorative stamp and vote for their favorite design, take a survey about the impact of September 11th, 2001, and purchase photos and renderings of the Memorial in the online image gallery.
Online outreach and fundraising have become increasingly important strategies for nonprofits. A June 2005 Kintera/Luth Nonprofit Trend Report found that 8.6 million households donated $3 billion online in 2004 and over 65 percent of donors said they were influenced by the organization’s website. Furthermore, online donors contribute 50 percent more than non-online donors.
Agency.com is a full-service interactive agency. Since 1995, the company has created effective interactive marketing campaigns and world-class websites to help global clients – including 3M, British Airways, T-Mobile UK and Visa – get and keep customers online. Agency.com is headquartered in New York and has offices in Amsterdam, Chicago, Dallas, London and San Francisco. For more information, visit www.agency.com. Agency.com is a subsidiary of the Omnicom Group Inc. (NYSE:OMC), a Fortune 500 global advertising, marketing and communications company. ABOUT THE WORLD TRADE CENTER MEMORIAL FOUNDATION
The World Trade Center Memorial Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation established to raise funds as well as build and operate the Memorial and Memorial Museum at the World Trade Center site. The Memorial, “Reflecting Absence,” will remember and honor the thousands of people who died in the horrific attacks of February 26th, 1993 and September 11th, 2001 and recognize the endurance of those who survived, the courage of those who risked their lives to save others, and the compassion of all who offered their support in the aftermath. “Reflecting Absence,” designed by Michael Arad and Peter Walker, was selected from among 5,201 submissions from 63 countries in what was the largest design competition in history. Donations can be made through the Foundation’s website, and more information on the Foundation can be found at www.buildthememorial.org.
Construction on the Memorial and Museum is expected to begin in the spring of 2006, with completion slated for 2009.
