To All,

Just when you thought it couldn't get worse it does. A variety of sources have reported this past weekend that certain big businesses such as Dell, Morgan Stanley and even companies owned by Donald Trump and Larry Silverstein have allegedly applied for and received federal 9/11 recovery grants that were set up for small businesses impacted by the attacks. What is even more pathetic is the fact that calls for investigations into these alleged offenses have gone unheeded by both the federal and state governments. To date, I am not aware of even one case where criminal action has been taken against either an applicant that wrongly applied for these loans or the banks that ignored the regulations governing the funds.

Today we have forwarded a letter to The Attorney General Eliot Spitzer asking him to open up an investigation into these allegations as we have been waiting for almost a year for the Office of Homeland Security to release the findings of an audit that their Inspector General has had since June.

The Empire State Development Corp. needs to answer these allegations. For over 4 years we have been asking for a full accountability for all of the Corporations that were funded and some even created to aid the victims of 9/11. Hopefully the Attorney General will be able to aid us in this effort as he has quite a good record in regards to going after white collar criminals.

It appears that the old adage "The Rich Get Richer" applies here as well as some 9/11 victims have lost everything but have been denied assistance.

Dennis
